Here are some hints and tips from a previous customer:
Wow what a difference from the old one! Here are a couple of tips that might help with installation. The Head would not go through the Large bearing housing so I had to remove the knives , install the head and re-install them. I bought an inch pound torque wrench to re-install them, but I guess you wouldn't have to, but I recommend it. Another thing is to re-align the head with the bottom plate of the planer, you can remove the gear cover underneath the planer loosen the set screws from one side of the elevation screws and set it equal to the other side elevation screw by turning the screw up or down as needed to obtain equal distance of the cutter head to the plate. You can measure from the top of the two front guide posts down to the guide collar that slides up and down on the posts. I was able to achieve a caliper reading of roughly .002 from side to side of a 12” planed board. That is better than it was when I bought the machine new. The surface quality is superb! Thank you for making these available. My old planer has a new life, as I also replaced the rubber feed rollers.
